About the Program

The Opera Atelier presents the MOZ-Art Program, an engaging 7-week camp for children and youngsters who want to participate in a live opera production.

This program may be of special interest to those wishing to enter programs at magnet schools and college programs in performance and in general those wanting to pursue musical studies.

Participants will experience the full breadth of the art and industry of opera by engaging in the various components of a full opera production.

Besides voice lessons, diction, theory, notation classes, coaching, and rehearsals, students will design and build props, and virtual scenery, and create marketing campaigns, among other elements.

The MOZ-Art program will culminate with a production of a full opera. Additionally, the students will participate in public presentations of solos and ensembles in various Miami-Dade venues.

Plans for this year include a new production of Frau Haydn in Trouble, libretto and music by D. Daroca

Tuition: The MOZ-Art Program tuition is $1,775. There is a $50 non-refundable pre-registration fee and a fee of $50 due upon admission.

The MOZ-Art Program has also scholarships to cover completely or partially the tuition, for students who qualify and formally request the scholarships before February 28, 2024. The full/partial scholarships will be assigned in the order in which the pre-registration and registration are complete, and until the places are exhausted. First come, first served.

(*)Full scholarships (SAS-C funded) for children with documented disabilities or from low-income families. Scholarships are available to Miami-Dade residents who qualify for free or reduced lunch or receive SNAP assistance. If the student qualifies for free or reduced lunch or receives SNAP assistance and you would like to request a camp scholarship, please email proof of eligibility to For students enrolled in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, you may send a screenshot of the student information tab found in the student or parent portal. Proof of SNAP assistance is also acceptable. There is a limited number of full scholarships available. NOTE: Students on scholarship should maintain excellent attendance (no more than 2 unexcused absences), punctuality, discipline, and academic performance. Otherwise, they risk losing their scholarships, which could then be assigned to other students from the waiting list. All students accepted into the program and their parents must sign a written agreement, including these terms, within ten (10) days after the admission interview, to complete the admission to the program.

(*)Partial scholarships granted by The Opera Atelier cover $775 of the tuition. Families will be responsible for the remaining $1000 tuition. The number of partial scholarships is limited. Scholarships are granted on a first-come, first-served basis, to those who apply and qualify.

The registration process and agreement should be completed by May 15, 2024.

*The attendance commitment is essential. The commitment to excellent attendance and punctuality is essential since this is an intensive program that concludes with public performances in Miami-Dade venues. Opera is a complex art that demands a significant investment in time and effort from all the participants working together towards a common goal: the success of the final production. Thus, the full schedule of classes, lessons, rehearsals, and coaching sessions requires the participation of all involved.

*Children enrolled in the program should not participate in any other Summer Camp or performance program during the program period (June 10 – July
21, 2024).

*Participants should be available for all performances, including recitals and production.
