About the Program
The Opera Atelier presents the MOZ-Art Program, an engaging 6-week camp for children and youngsters who want to participate in a live opera production.
This program may be of special interest to those wishing to enter programs at magnet schools and college programs in performance and in general those wanting to pursue musical studies.
Participants will experience the full breadth of the art and industry of opera by engaging in the various components of a full opera production.
Besides voice lessons, diction, theory, notation classes, coaching, and rehearsals, students will design and build props, virtual scenery, and create marketing campaigns, among others elements.
The MOZ-Art program will culminate with a production of a full opera. Additionally, the students will participate in public presentations of solos and ensembles in various Miami-Dade venues.
Plans for this year include Bastien and Bastienne by Mozart and a new production of Frau Haydn in Trouble.

Tuition: The MOZ-Art Program is a FREE TUITION program for students who qualify. PLEASE READ BELOW. The MOZ-Art Program has also private scholarships to cover completely or partially the cost of the program, valued at $1,775. The partial scholarships will be assigned in the order in which the registration applications are received until the places are exhausted. First, come first served. There is a $100 non-refundable registration fee payable at registration.
(*)Full scholarships (SAS-C funded) for children with documented disabilities or from low-income families. Scholarships are available to Miami-Dade residents who qualify for free or reduced lunch or receive SNAP assistance. If the student qualifies for free or reduced lunch or receives SNAP assistance and you would like to request a camp scholarship, please email proof of eligibility to firstname.lastname@example.org. For students enrolled in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, you may send a screenshot of the student information tab found in the student or parent portal. Proof of SNAP assistance is also acceptable. There is a limited number of full scholarships available. NOTE: Students on scholarship should maintain excellent attendance, punctuality, discipline, and academic performance. Otherwise, they risk losing their scholarships, which could then be assigned to other students from the waiting list. All students accepted into the program and their parents must sign a written agreement including these terms by June 10, 2023.
(*)Partial scholarships granted by The Opera Atelier cover $1000 of the tuition. Families will be responsible for the remaining $775 tuition. The number of partial scholarships is limited. Scholarships are granted on a first-come, first-served basis, to those who apply.
The registration process and participation agreement should be completed by June 10, 2023.
*The attendance commitment is essential. The commitment to excellent attendance and punctuality is essential since this is an intensive program that concludes with public performances in Miami-Dade venues. Opera is a complex art that demands a significant investment in time and effort from all the participants working together towards a common goal: the success of the final production. Thus, the full schedule of classes, lessons, rehearsals, and coaching sessions requires the participation of all involved.
*Children enrolled in the program should not participate in any other performance program during the program period (June 12 – July 23).
*Participants should be available for all performances.
If you have additional questions about the program, please contact the Program Education Director, Daniel Daroca, at email@example.com
