I see art as a path to extend our humanity, as a vehicle for communication, and as a precious gift to be transmitted to others. Without that other, art will cease to have meaning.   I identify myself with the Baroque style and aspire to become an excellent performer in that style by researching and assimilating the techniques employed during that period, listening to recordings of great artists, and by working with master teaching artists.  For me, art is a craft that must be engaged with daily. I consider myself a violinist, classic music lover and Baroque music enthusiast.

Professor Jacqueline Solorzano joined The Opera Atelier faculty in 2012 teaching private violin lessons and group lessons for children and seniors. She has a certificate in Violin Teaching from the Northwestern University, where she studied violin pedagogy under Stacia Spencer. Studying violin with maestro Jhonny Mendoza, and after, with the international violinist Erzhan Kulivaev. Jacqueline has received training in the Violin Classic Method through the great violin fundamentals and principles from Jascha Heifetz, David Oistrakh, Yehudi Menuhin, Ida Haendel,  Ivan Galamian, Leonid Kogan, among other great violinists and pedagogues. Jacqueline teaching usually in the TOA studio and also freelances in her private studio in West Miami. She is a founding artist and co-creator of The Opera Atelier where she works as an active Executive Director, scenographer, designer, and violin professor.  Professor Solórzano has a special interest in baroque violin music, researching violinist composers and learning rare baroque pieces.

Teaching Kids

"I enjoy professionally as violin teacher for children who for different way they are a little or no opportunity to take a violin in its hand due economic factors, disabilities conditions, etc., and bring them and teach them to play violin at an early age, to enjoy the music since children. Although I did not have the opportunity to play a violin in my childhood, now I enjoy playing since my middle age as an adult violin player.

I teach violin to children as a way to win future violinists who can bringing the works of those great composers and just as the excellent violinist of the old guard like as David Oistrakh and Ida Handel did. I enjoy spreading music and passion, always demonstrating that everyone can play!

I'm a violinist here to share my love of music and make sure every of my students gets to experience the joy of playing. My professional interest is teaching the violin to early age students with a correct technique and inspiring those children to taste and love for baroque and classical music."

As violinist, my goal is to bring to life the masterpieces of great baroque composers such as Vivaldi, Corelli, Pachelbel, Leonarda, Locatelli, Albinoni, de La Guerre, Bach, Handel, among others. Inspired by pieces played by great violinists of all the times.
I currently work under the guidance of maestro Erzhan Kulibaev, a laureate of many international competitions and an international performer who carries the lineage of the great Russian school, having been named as the best disciple of  Zakhar Bran. Mr. Kulibaev is not only a great performer and teacher, but he is a caring person who is invested in the growth of the violinist he teaches, at whatever level of their development. His philosophy of education is congruent with my own. He is able to identify difficulties and to offer immediate and effective ways to get to the optimal solutions.

I have enjoyed valuable conversations with excellent violinists, among which I always recall beautiful moments shared with the exceptional and always remembered Ida Haendel, and Maestro Erzhan Kulibaev.

Teaching seniors and adult
beginners

I have been a late bloomer, having started playing the violin as an adult. I am learning playing violin melodies starting at the age of 50. Now, I proudly consider myself a violinist, a music lover, and a passionate enthusiast of Baroque music. Being a disabled individual with partial symptomatic epilepsy and complex partial seizures, I find immense joy in exploring the captivating realm of Baroque music through the melodious sound of my violin. For me, the violin is not just a cherished art form; it also serves as a therapeutic and medicinal outlet for my brain. In my practice as a violin teacher for beginner adults and seniors, I enjoy spreading music and passion, always demonstrating that everyone can play!

Engaging with music, especially through the violin, helps me concentrate, find inner peace, and organize my thoughts. It has become an essential part of my life, contributing positively to my well-being. As a violin teacher for beginner adults and seniors, I take immense pleasure in sharing the gift of music and instilling passion in my students. I am dedicated to showing them that age or circumstances should never hinder anyone from playing and enjoying music to the fullest!

In my opinion, while an adult may not retain the natural physical abilities of a child, they do possess the advantage of experience, understanding, and concentration – all crucial elements in learning the violin. By complementing these qualities with daily and methodical practice, adults can achieve remarkable feats as violinists, deriving enjoyment from music as a means of leisure, mental well-being, and spiritual enrichment.

Our group sessions with seniors not only focus on the tranquil acquisition of instrumental skills and care but also on cultivating an appreciation for classical and opera music, along with the ability to identify melodic patterns, scales, rhythmic modes, and much more.

The curriculum designed for adult violinists encompasses a 60-minute personalized one-on-one lesson each week. Additionally, there is an extra 60-minute monthly group session dedicated to exploring music theory and chamber music.

In these group sessions, participants engage in listening and reading exercises involving simple rhythms and melodies, allowing them to progress as aspiring violinists.

The teaching methodology for senior violin students prioritizes user-friendly and simple fingerings that foster acute auditory and music-reading abilities. Furthermore, in group classes, a social space is created for friendship and for sharing the appreciation of great music.

Jacqueline Solorzano ~ Bio

I was born under the sign of Pisces on March 8th. I attended High School at the prestigious Liceo Aplicación in Caracas, Venezuela. Later I continued my studies at the University Institute of Technology (IUT_RC) to study Applied Mathematics and Physics, but while I was taking the General Studies courses, the Math Department was eliminated due to low enrollment! I decided then to study Law and graduated as an attorney from Universidad Central de Venezuela.

Still very young and due to profound discrepancies with the academic discourse, since I am totally phobic of standards and dogma, I became a self-declared autodidact. I have studied Lacanian Psychoanalysis for over twenty years. I am a web and graphic designer, virtual scenographer, life coach, and avid reader. In my life as an attorney in Venezuela, I was a founder and general director of an important organization in the area of housing policy in my country, to which I devoted ten years of my professional life, during which I obtained significant achievements and recognitions.

I decided to leave my country due to the political asphyxia I was experiencing, and I came to the United States, where I have continued to study photography, web design, and even violin and music theory, in addition to my studies in Psychoanalysis. Working fundamentally on emphasizing each person’s individuality, helping people to discover their desires and aspirations and also to help make them come to fruition, from the starting point of their characteristics, objectives, and aspirations as artists, helping them to obtain satisfaction and to reach their goals in their professional careers. I am also a certified life coach helping them to achieve tangible desired changes in their lives.
