The No Room of Her Own series celebrates the contributions of trailblazing women artists, continuing with a theatrical performance of Virginia Woolf’s famous lecture, “A Room of Own’s Own.” Watch as the groundbreaking modernist novelist formulates her argument that the genius of women writers has been constrained historically not by a lack of talent, but by a lack of resources: a steady income and place to write. Woolf’s description of the anguish experienced by women of thwarted genius hints at the anguish the radical author experienced herself. The lecture is reenacted by Dr. Celeste Landeros, Barry University Professor of English and Humanities.
Dr. Celeste Landeros is a professor of English and Humanities at Barry University, in Miami Shores, Florida USA, and chair of the Florida Folklife Council.
